Think Positive, it’s Fun

An idea came to me whilst sitting in the coffee shop this afternoon (as ideas often do) — an affirmation of success and accomplishment. I thought wouldn’t it be lovely to share this energy with my cyber friends?

And so, I present this idea to you, dear pals!

Ok! Who’s game 2 join me n my experiment?

“Every day upon awakening, and thruout the day for 21 days, affirm:

Today is a brilliant day filled w/ light, love, good ideas & perfect right action 2 achieve my [fill in the blank here] goals! Thank You!”

We can report to each other here, on our progress. Anybody up for it?

Starting NOW!

Cheers!

Refocus & Achieve

For us as voiceover professionals – and people in other careers as well – there are always a ton of things to be done to keep all the balls in the air! How can we manage it all?

Here’s an article from Success Magazine on focussing that gives a bit of well-appreciated guidance!

“Refocus in Four Steps

The average person loses focus every six to ten seconds. When you find yourself drifting, recognize it and make a conscious effort to set yourself back on course.

Here are four ways to refocus yourself:

1. Start writing a to-do list. Just the cathartic act of writing down what you need to do will help you get back on track.

2. Dive into your email. If you’re a deadline-driven person and find yourself without something pressing to do that minute, checking your backlog of unaddressed emails will help refocus that sense of urgency.

3. Get up and walk around. Fresh air, a drink of water or a little conversation will help “reset” your mind for your next wave of productivity.

4. Do something easy, that you know you’ll do well. That sense of accomplishment will help propel you into harder tasks on your to-do list.”

That’s it! Four simple steps. Number three is particularly interesting, as often when we feel tired…the cause could be dehydration. So drink plenty of water for energy to focus & accomplish, peeps!

Would I Survive No Internet for a Whole Month?

rabbit, rabbit, rabbit…

rabbit

I believe I could live without the internet for a month if I was somewhere on an island…but then I'd be dying to tweet about all the beautiful animals and scenery I would see. I'd be aching to send a piccie via my BlackBerry to facebook and twitter. I'd be rolling on the sand in a frenzy cause I couldn't blog or podcast about my beautiful time!

Being a voice artist, I'm constantly on the net either working or looking for work, so it would be very difficult. I'd miss my cyber friends. But, if there was no need to worry about what I might be missing on the voiceover scene – I'd spend the time embroidering, drawing or painting, reading, making jewelry, exercising (would there be pubs in this fictional nightmare – errr, world…without internet) and playing games on my ipod or conversing with my hubby.

After a period of adjustment, I could survive.

5 Rules of Relationships

This came in my email this morning. It’s brilliant! It’s from Success Magazine.

While these were written, I believe as general lifestyle guidelines — upon reflection — I think they make pretty good rules for us to follow as part of our life plans as success voice artists/voice talents!

5 Rules of Relationships

John Maxwell says relationships can fall into one of four categories.

Those that add to who we are, those that subtract, those that multiply our strengths and those that divide us.

To improve our relationships with others, he offers these five rules:

1. Get Along with Yourself—The one relationship you have until you die is with yourself. Treat yourself with the love and respect you deserve.

2. Value People—You cannot make another feel important if you secretly feel that he or she is not.

3. Recognize that everyone has innate value.

4. Make the Effort to Form Relationships—Chuck Swindoll said, “It’s like they say in the Army, when you dig a foxhole, make enough room for two.” Reach out, make room and enjoy new relationships.

Understand the Reciprocity Rule—What you put into the lives of others comes back into your own.

5. Follow the Golden Rule (do onto others as you would have them do to you) —If every person made decisions based on the Golden Rule, we would all make more right decisions.

Cheers all!

Reese’s Pieces remind me of Friendship

.

Now eating Reese’s Pieces (chocolate & peanut butter sweets)on the train into London.

The thought has just come to me that they remind me of friendship. Many wonderful thoughts are coming to me of times I’ve shared them with friends & loved ones.

Sharing them with a pal on the way home from the Anime convention, going over the events of the day; sharing them with hubby whilst on holiday.

It’s good to have cheerful memories! What reminds YOU of friendship?

Cheers!

Testing the System!

I’m enjoying growing and learning more about the voiceover, social media scene. This is just a little test to see how posting a blog by email works.

Do not attempt to adjust your television set, this is a test! (That line’s from an old sci fi programme! :D )

From Ralph Waldo Emerson — “Insist on yourself; never imitate…Every great man (and woman) is unique.”

The Last Time I Thanked Someone

The last time I thanked someone was yesterday. The person had read something I’d posted about my podcast. And they sent a response, just an emoticon that said ‘praise’.

It took them just a few minutes to do that, but it was so meaningful and encouraging to me. Maybe we all want recognition when we do something good, and this help us (me) to go on and do even better things.

Gratitude is very important. I think it helps keep us (me) positive and happy, and always looking for and knowing, there’s plenty of good about in my world, and in the bigger world at large. Writing this post makes me feel good and now I’m looking forward to see ‘who will I thank today!’ Well, — for starters –I’m thankful that I went my blog, saw the write-up about Plinky, came over to take a look and signed up! Cheers…
